European Energy Award
The European Energy Award is an international quality management system and certification procedure that supports municipalities on their way to greater energy efficiency.
Climate protection is an essential area of urban environmental protection. Since 2010, the city has been involved in the European Energy Award (eea).
All possible urban activities in climate protection in the sectors of development planning and spatial planning, municipal buildings and facilities, supply and disposal, mobility, internal organisation and communication are evaluated and compared with other European cities that are also involved in the EEA.
In 2014 and 2018, the city received the eea awards for its very successful participation.
In 2022, the city's measures were re-certified. Due to the quantity and quality of the city's climate protection activities, the city of Biberach achieved the highest possible eea gold award.
