In Germany, you are free to choose the doctor you want to go to. For example, you can choose a doctor who has his practice located near you or who was recommended to you.

Anyone who is insured under the statutory health insurance scheme must, however, consult a doctor who is licensed to treat public health care patients. These are the majority of medical practitioners licensed in Germany. If you still want to see a doctor who only treats people with private health insurance, you will need to pay the treatment costs yourself.
