Biberach is just under 1,000 years old. Anyone who wants to feel this long history should take a walk through the old part town. Many small and winding alleys testify to the town planning that went on in the Middle Ages in Europe and are then as now the vibrant centre of life in the city. Whether it's eating ice cream in the summer or visiting the “Christkindlesmarkt” in the winter, Biberach's historic part of town is always worth a visit.

The oldest houses in the city can be found a few minutes' walk away on the Weberberg. Some buildings are over 650 years old and have been restored in painstaking detail. On a guided tour of the city, you can touch walls that are hundreds of years old, learn about the long, rich history of Biberach and its inhabitants and get a feel for life in our city.

The area outside the former city wall is somewhat more expansive. Here, you will find single-family homes and new housing estates, which can always be found close to kindergartens, schools, shopping centres or one of Biberach's many well-known businesses.

Even closer to the city proper, you will find many new residential and commercial areas that have been built in the recent past. There is also enough space for leisure activities on the outskirts of Biberach, and the beautiful nature around the city rounds off the experience.

When you hike into the countryside, you will eventually find yourself in one of the four districts of Mettenberg, Rißegg, Ringschnait and Stafflangen. They have all officially been part of Biberach since the 1970s and make the dream of living in the countryside come true for families and nature lovers.

Mettenberg, with its suburbs Königshofen and Hochstetter Hof, is located approximately 4 km away from Biberach. Inhabitants there engage in a lively community life as a variety of clubs and organisations ensure a varied annual calendar with their numerous events as well as leisure and sports activities.

Mettenberg is particularly popular with young families. Here, children can grow up in the countryside, while employment in Biberach is only a few minutes away by car or public transport. A tradition that is particularly popular with families is the “Storchenwaldaktion”, whereby parents can plant a tree once a year for their newborns. This allows the little ones to not only visit “their” tree again and again as well as compare the growth of the tree with their own development, but also benefit from the green image of the city decades later.

In Ringschnait along with Winterreute, Bronnen, Stockland, Ziegelhütte and Schlottertal, the total number of inhabitants has steadily increased over the past few decades such that families can find a kindergarten that is open all day as well as benefit from a primary school. Several trade and commercial enterprises, a citizen-focused public administration and good Internet are additional arguments for a residence in Ringschnait.

You can quickly reach Biberach from Ringschnait by bus or car. The neighbouring town of Memmingen is also close by. What about after work? Sports, of course! The north of the village boasts a sports centre with two grass fields, three tennis courts and a riding ground for recreationalists. A sports hall is also available for various sporting activities, and a beach volleyball court is located in the immediate vicinity.

If you want to live only a few minutes away from Biberach while still enjoying the countryside, Rißegg and its Rindenmoos suburb is the right place for you. Formerly known for its farmhouses, this village has seen steady growth in recent decades.

Whoever lives here, enjoys diverse surroundings. Thanks to the construction of new single-family homes, people employed in a wide range of professions and from different cultures and dialects have moved to Rißegg. Located amidst fields, meadows and forests, a lively community life is cultivated here. Numerous associations mix things up, while a host of kindergartens, a municipal primary school and a private secondary school educate future generations. Hotels and restaurants in the village likewise make the area welcome to tourists.

The inhabitants of Stafflangen can be found in the suburbs of Eichen, Eggelsbach, Hofen, Maierhof, Mösmühle, Streitberg and Bahnstock. Stafflangen lies 8 km west of Biberach and is known for its rustling forests. One third of the area is covered by forest, making Stafflangen the ideal place to live for all nature lovers.

Stafflangen used to be a place of church. Today, families dominate the scene. A kindergarten, a school with its own banqueting hall and a variety of clubs make Stafflangen the perfect home. The small lake of Ayweiher boasts sparkling blue waters, the happy laughter of children and a restaurant for the culinary part of the excursion. Thanks to its close proximity to the Federsee nature reserve, Stafflangen offers living space where others go on holiday.
